International community appreciates peace policy of Belarus

The most important issues of international security are discussed in Minsk. The President of Belarus took part in the conference "Eastern Europe: in search of security for all". The event should start an annual open and large-scale dialogue between leading experts from Eastern Europe, the European Union, Russia, the United States and China. Minsk provides a qualitatively new platform for discussions on the present and future of regional and international security. It is no accident that the forum is held in the Belarusian capital. Thanks to the multi - vector foreign policy of our country, respect for foreign partners, the role of Minsk growing as a convenient platform for any negotiations is. Alexander Lukashenko stated that modern international relations are more like the situation before the WWI. But Europe can and should set an example in addressing issues between East and West.

The global expert forum gathered an unprecedented number of participants, more than 4 hundred guests from the West and the East. In fact, everyone is concerned about the main issue. How to make the future in the Eastern European region safe? It is not surprising that these topics are discussed in Minsk. This once again confirms that the international community has evaluated the policy of peace, which Belarus is so strongly advocating.

Christine Muttonen, Chairman of the OSCE PA (2016-2017): "Belarus is building a bridge between East and West today. And I can only support this position. It's important to bring people together and give them a chance to talk, to take this first step towards peace. After all, the forum brought together a lot of interesting experts".

Nikolay Bordyuzha, CSTO Secretary General (2003-2017): "We see what is happening, how a new military infrastructure is being created near the borders of Belarus and Russia, how new tank formations and troops appear. There is actually a military build-up at the border. This can only lead to one thing-a collision. And, of course, we need dialogue and conversation. We need to calm down and deal primarily with the security of our peoples, and not the solution of political problems or the deterrence of some countries."

Li Qinggong, Head of the Centre for National Security Studies of the Eurasian Association of Systemic Studies (China): "The main challenge for the world is the security of small countries. Big States, big players are able to protect themselves, while small countries, they do not have so much strength, so it is necessary to form a common system of protection, this is the main goal."

The confrontation between the United States and Russia only thickens the clouds on the world stage. Increasingly, the states of the West and the East speak the language of sanctions, not finding the strength for dialogue.

Erkki Tuomi, member of the Parliament of Finland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland (2011 - 2015): "Dialogue is what we always need. The voices of all-Russia, the US and Europe-must be heard. Helsinki 1 is an important document, but other times have come and it needs improvement. To do this, we must develop specific points, to complement the existing agreements."

The escalation of international tension automatically aggravates the threat to security for us and certainly does not help the development of the economy. A new large-scale international dialogue on security issues is needed. This was discussed at the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, even earlier this idea was voiced by the Belarusian leader, while meeting with politicians from Brussels. Today, in order to improve the atmosphere of relations between states, it is necessary to update the peacekeeping process. Alexander Lukashenko remains faithful to this idea.

The interest of the official Minsk is clear. All means are good in the search for ways to de-escalate international tensions in Eastern Europe. The growing political and military tensions suggest that it is necessary to bridge multiple gaps and to adapt security regimes to the realities of the present day.

Belarus does not hide that it is ready to cooperate with the West and the East. This is the promotion of the ideas of partnership of integration associations in Europe, the renewal of the pan-European dialogue on strengthening security and cooperation. Alexander Lukashenko makes an important emphasis on the economy.

Minsk Dialogue will allow to "find" solutions "on such issues as terrorism, economic security, environment, cybercrime, migration and settlement of frozen conflicts.
