This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with Ambassador of China to Belarus. Xie Xiaoyun has been in office since November 2020. As the head of the state noted, Minsk and Beijing know each other very well and maintain confidential relations, which is especially important in the context of geopolitical events and counteraction to the sanctions pressure.
The President suggested China to outline additional ways of cooperation taking into account the situation in the region and the sanctions. Belarus and China are not just long-time partners, but good friends. The trade turnover between the two countries exceeded USD 5 billion last year. There are also a number of investment programs in operation: 85 residents from 15 countries are registered only in the Great Stone Industrial Park. The amount of investments exceeds a billion dollars. Contacts at the political level are also intensive: Alexander Lukashenko visited China 12 times and met with President of China Xi Jinping 11 times, including at international venues. In 2016, Minsk and Beijing agreed "to bring their relations to iron brotherhood, exemplary all-round strategic cooperation and all-weather partnership.”
