Lukashenko addresses Ukrainian people and country's leadership

The Slavic peoples should live in peace and harmony. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this today at a meeting timed to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of Belarus.

"You remember my position: we have always proposed peace. And from this high rostrum in this difficult period, I would like to once again appeal (after the meeting with the president of Russia) to the Ukrainian people and the leadership, if they have not yet crossed the red line: let us Slavs always live in peace and harmony," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President philosophically noted that everything is passing: not only confrontations and conflicts, but even the worst wars. "Everything passes, everything is forgotten. The whole problem is how deep the scar will be in the hearts of our Slavic peoples after our conflicts. So once again I suggest: stop, brush aside these overseas masters. They will not bring you any happiness. As soon as you become unwanted, they will throw you on the dustbin of history. This is our way - the way of peace and harmony," said the head of state.

At the same time Alexander Lukashenko warned: "But those, sharpening their bayonets, especially in the west of our country, remember: we have never been traitors and never will be. And you will not be able to shoot the Russians in the back through Belarus, as you are planning. So once again I repeat: we must calm down and make the right decision for the benefit of our people. The people who will die, God forbid, if a war breaks out.  They do not want this war, they do not want to die. They want to live like everybody else."

"I want to stress once again: no panic, no madness. We live and we will live," summed up the Belarusian leader.
