Lukashenko and Putin discuss format of CSTO negotiations and situation in Kazakhstan

The Belarusian leader discussed the situation in Kazakhstan and the CSTO countries with his Russian counterpart. Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin also considered the format of further negotiations of the CSTO heads of state.

The efforts of the CSTO leaders are aimed at settling the situation in Kazakhstan. The politicians maintain close contact because of the events going there. On January 7, the Belarusian leader held a conversation with Nursultan Nazarbaev. Several rounds of talks were held over the phone between Alexander Lukashenko and his counterparts from Russia and Armenia. Referring to the activities of CSTO peacekeeping forces, the leaders emphasized that one of their main tasks is to prevent outside gangs from penetrating into Kazakhstan. The heads of state are immersed in the situation, and all efforts are aimed at resolving the situation.
