The origins of the Belarusian political traditions date back to the times of the ancient veches. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the national seminar "Actualization of the methods and forms of work with the population at the local level."
The President noted that for more than a quarter of a century Belarus has been purposefully strengthening the vertical of power from the bottom, making it closer to the people.
Lukashenko: A state for the people is a modern sovereign policy of Belarus.
The President said that all well-known aristocratic regimes in the Belarusian history, the princely, the nobility’s and royal ones, were firmly associated with oppression. "The Belarusian state was created by the people and for itself, for the people. And this will remain unchanged. In other words, speaking about the actualization of the forms and methods of the work with the population on the local level, we should understand that the vertical of administration should be by no means opposed to the people," pointed out the head of the state.
