The tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is history, the lessons of the past are assimilated, and today our common task is to revive the land with labor and care. Such words were heard during the conversation of the Presidents with the inhabitants of the agro-town Liaskovichi. The firm intention is to strengthen cooperation was confirmed during a personal conversation in the residence of Alexander Lukashenko. Of course, the conversation touched on a wide range of topics: the situation in the east of Ukraine and the implementation of Minsk agreements, trade and economic cooperation, and also positions on a number of world problems.

Lyaskovichi is a small place in the west of Gomel Region, a pearl of the Belarusian woodland. The presidents of Belarus and Ukraine arrived here together.

This was an abandoned village, and today it is a modern agro-town with recreation facilities, hotel, safari park and museum of nature. The revival began with the advent of the National Park Pripyatsky.

More than 2,500 settlements were affected by radiation in Belarus. Back in the 90s, President Alexander Lukashenko made a firm decision: the affected lands need to be restored! Large-scale programs on revival started. A radiation monitoring system has been created, the land is deactivated, water treatment facilities are being built.

St. Michael's Church in Lyaskovichi is a place for spiritual revival and inspiration of local residents. It is here in the church that the presidents of Belarus and Ukraine lighted candles in memory of those who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.

The peculiarity of the current negotiations between Alexander Lukashenko and Petro Poroshenko is that they are held on the same day in the territories of two states, both in Ukraine and in Belarus. For a quarter of a century of independence, the countries were able to build a solid foundation for cooperation.

Belarus is a country that promotes peaceful dialogue in resolving the Ukrainian crisis. Petro Poroshenko thanked Belarus for the peace efforts made and expressed hope for soon resolution of the conflict.

Events in the Donbass have forced many Ukrainians to seek a more peaceful place to live. By the way, 160 thousand refugees from this country came to Belarus.

Belarus is the fourth most important trade partner of Ukraine. Also, there are 12 joint assembly plants operating in Belarus and Ukraine. The neighboring country collects tractors and combines, elevators, trolley buses. Alexander Lukashenko proposes a new look at industrial cooperation.

It is necessary to prepare the ground for the next negotiations of the presidents of Belarus and Ukraine. At the invitation of Poroshenko, Aleksandr Lukashenko is awaited in Kiev this summer for an official visit.
