China sees Belarus as reliable friend and partner

On the second day of his visit to Beijing, President Alexander Lukashenko met with head of China Xi Jinping.

It is symbolic that on the eve of the visit the head of state signed a directive on the development of bilateral relations with China. The document defines the main directions of cooperation from deep integration of enterprises to the creation of a Center of Chinese Studies.

The document, signed by the President before the visit to China, involves bringing our exports to China up to 1.5 billion dollars by 2020. Special Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee will coordinate the process. Presidential Administration together with the Communist Party of China develops a long-term base for cooperation.

By July 1, 2016, a list of companies will have been made, which will receive the capital of large Chinese companies. The priorities are agriculture, industry and medicine. Chinese investors will invest on preferential terms. China plans to create joint ventures for the production of Belarusian agricultural machinery and its after-sales service.

The emotional meeting with Xi Jinping became a vivid embodiment of the special format of relations between Minsk and Beijing.

This is the third meeting between the two leaders within the last 4 months. In the world of politics, it is very rare. At the beginning of the talks the leaders recalled Xi Jinping’s visit in Minsk.

During the talks in Minsk Belarus and China have agreed on the continuation of large-scale comprehensive cooperation. The portfolio of the agreements at the end of the visit of the high guest totaled to 18 billion dollars.

Belarus expects to increase its export by 50 billion. The main thing is that we move from trade to investment cooperation.

Construction of the Great Stone Park was personally inspected by the two leaders. This suggests the importance of the project for the two countries. In the future, the Great Stone Park will be a real scientific and industrial giant, the biggest one in Europe.

One of the key points of the current visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Beijing is the celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the war against Japan and the end of the Second World War.
