First talk about the fact that the first ring road needs to be unloaded started 4 years ago. Firstly, the traffic there reaches 120-thousand vehicles per day, and, secondly, of course, it damages the environment. In February President Alexander Lukashenko demanded speedy construction of the second ring road. After preparatory work the second ring has got its first kilometer.
Today, the pace and quality of construction of the second ring road was controlled by the Head of State personally. Obviously, the President is not satisfied with the speed of the project realization. Alexander Lukashenko demanded to complete the first part of the road - 44 km - next year.
By the way, the initiator of the strategy of moving away from the asphalt pavement was the President of the country. It is a practical solution from all sides. The main thing is economic feasibility. Maximum durability of asphalt is seven years while the warranty passport of cement concrete pavement is 25 years.
At the second ring road, cars will be able to accelerate to 120 km/h. By the way, this high-speed threshold should become the norm for the first ring too, says the President.
The President listened to reports on plans of reconstruction and construction of national roads by 2019. Their total length is more than 400 km. The President ordered to use cement concrete in yards, driveways and local roads.
