Meeting in Minsk summarizes Sochi dialogue

23 сентября 2018

The main theme of the week, of course, is the big Sochi round of negotiations at the level of the presidents and governments of Belarus and Russia. The dialogue was tense, but super-productive. All the painful issues that have been on the agenda in the past few years were closed. 6 hours of negotiations at Bocharov Ruchei Residence showed: The allies can and wish to resolve any, even the most acute contradictions in the economy, trade, investment projects and finances.

The first key result of Sochi is the absence of alternatives to deep integration. The Allies are aware that in today's world, no economy, except perhaps a primitive natural economy, is possible without security and firm positions in the region.

No successful Union and Eurasian integration is possible without a reliable credit history. Revision of financial obligations, especially one-sided, destroys reputation. In Sochi, they agreed on two financial packages at once: the Eurasian Fund will fulfill its earlier commitments on the two remaining tranches for Belarus, which is $ 400 million.
