Elimination of Daniela cyclone’s consequences continues in non-stop mode

By Alexei Adashkin: The elimination of the consequences and problems brought about by cyclone Daniela continues around the clock. The situation is kept under constant control by a number of ministries and departments, but heavy snowfalls in many regions have become an insurmountable obstacle to restoring power supply. The natural phenomenon has become a test for the transport, energy and municipal services systems of the country. Receiving reports from the heads of the departments involved in fighting the natural disaster, the President stressed that those responsible for these areas must begin working on prevention, especially in the energy sector.

Citizens are actively involved in clearing yard areas from snow. However, the extreme weather situation has its advantages, being an experience for specialised services. More importantly, the snow cover reliably protects crops.

Operational groups have been working around the clock to eliminate the cyclone’s aftermath. Road clearing and snow removal involved over 5,000 machinery units, about 37,000 employees of relevant organisations, as well as the forces of the Interior, Emergency Situations and Defence Ministries.

Experts of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services have developed a new document expanding the powers of local authorities in regard to clearing parking spaces.

The new cyclone Emma expected in Belarus tomorrow is comparable to its predecessor, Daniela.
