The development of bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Germany was discussed today at the Palace of Independence. Alexander Lukashenko met with the ambassador of this country Peter Dettmar, who completes his diplomatic mission. In recent years, contacts have intensified in the relations of Minsk and Berlin, especially at the political level. Our President appreciates the contribution of Germany to normalization Belarus’s relations with the European Union. In recent years the intensification of contacts has been noticeable, especially at the political level. Last year was productive for the countries in the economy: the interest of German business in our country is constantly growing.
2018 was a successful year for Belarus and Germany not only because of the rise in economic relations, but because of progress in the political sphere. In 2016 the pragmatic Germany supported the decision to abolish most of the EU anti-Belarusian restrictive measures.
More than 300 hundred enterprises with German capital are registered in Belarus. The total trade turnover has been steadily increasing over the last couple of years. Investments from this country into the Belarusian economy noticeably increased.
Serious companies create their own production sites, including in the industrial park "Great Stone". Almost a hundred representative offices were opened by German companies.
In recent years, there has been a marked increase in contacts in the relations of the official Minsk and Berlin, especially at the political level. Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Minsk during the Norman talks. Almost a year ago, he met the President of Germany, who was present at the celebrations on the occasion of the opening of the memorial in Trostents. Alexander Lukashenko and Frank-Walter Steinmeier held bilateral talks in the Palace of Independence. But our president does not tire of repeating that politics is good, but we should not forget about the economy.
