The development of cooperation, common actions in politics and defense, and joint projects were discussed by the leaders of Belarus and Russia in Sochi. Of course, there was much speculation and outright fakery regarding the agenda of that meeting. However, this week Lukashenko dispelled all doubts and fabrications by speaking in detail about the context of the talks.
In brief, Lukashenko and Putin talked about how the countries could cooperate more closely and for the greater benefit of both Belarusians and Russians, while being aware of the inviolability of the sovereignty of the states. There are enough challenges today, and it is easier to hold up the shield against external threats together.
The informality of the meeting in Sochi, the mountain entourage, and the disposition of the leaders - all this has led the media to think of a certain behind-the-scenes approach. They say, what else is there to discuss but power? Lukashenko will be categorical: no transfers or new Russian loans were discussed. The countries agreed to continue coordinating their foreign and defense policies. Also in Sochi, they talked about how to jointly counteract current challenges, including external ones.
