By Natalia Breus: President Alexander Lukashenko has held a meeting with the government agriculture authorities to discuss Belarus’ agricultural season results and efficiency in agriculture in general. Receiving reports by Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusyi and Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats, the President was interested in the results the agrarians had achieved and in the availability of quality products to the population. The Belarusian leader also announced a large-scale meeting on the efficiency and situation in the Belarusian agriculture sector to be held in November.

This year is not the best for Belarus’ agroindustrial complex. Last year, the export of meat and dairy products resulted in a revenue of almost 6 billion dollars. Belarus has become the world's third largest exporter of butter after New Zealand and the European Union, outrunning Australia and the USA. The country accounts for about 5 % of the world’s trade in dairy products and is among the world's top five exporters of dry whey, cheese, cottage cheese and skim milk powder.
