Exactly seven decades ago, the world breathed a sigh of relief when the war finished. And today, we congratulate each other and say thank you to veterans. Thousands of Belarusians, including senior officials, heads of government agencies, representatives of NGOs, clerics, diplomats, and, of course, veterans, gathered in the heart of the capital in order to pay tribute to the Great Victory Day. According to tradition, the first wreath at the foot of the obelisk in Victory Square is laid by the Head of State.

Following the President, a tribute to those who died during the Great Patriotic War was given by the leadership of the government, parliamentarians, officials of the country, the heads of the Orthodox and Catholic churches, and representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps. Then all those present honored the memory of the soldiers-liberators with a minute of silence.

The President expressed his gratitude to the participants of the Great Patriotic War for the victory in the bloodiest war in human history, and wished them good health and conveyed greetings fr om the Russian leadership.

Then Alexander Lukashenko went to the Stella Minsk-Hero City wh ere military parade took place.
