Belarus has succeeded as an independent state pursuing a policy of peace, as stressed by President Alexander Lukashenko in his address during today’s Independence Day parade.
The country’s unchanging principle is the equality of all states and their non-interference in each other's internal affairs. Belarus stands for solving any international conflicts at the negotiating table.
President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the Belarusian people on Independence Day, with special respect addressing the veterans who brought freedom to their motherland.
Today’s parade featured military industry novelties and the powerful military equipment that is in operational service with the Belarusian army - 222 machinery units, including the combat vehicles BelGrad and Smerch and the multiple-launch rocket system Polonaise.
The parade involved 3,500 servicemen and 20 crews as part of the foot-borne column, as well as Belarusian aircrafts performing acrobatic maneuvers and a traditional parade by the Honor Guard.
The column of civilian vehicles presented the power of the Belarusian mechanical engineering industry. It consisted of 102 machinery units, including the ones demonstrated to the general public for the first time.
The audience was presented with an unusual ballet performed by Belarus tractors. The parade ended with a spectacular youth performance.
