The future projects have been discussed by President Alexander Lukashenko and head of Rosneft Igor Sechin at the meeting in the Palace of Independence. The contracts for oil supplies from Russia have expired on December 31.  During the meeting of Russian and Belarusian Presidents in Sochi on February 7, Russia announced its intention to sell oil at global prices. That is why Belarus is looking for direct contacts with Russian companies without interference of the Cremlin. The following cooperation scheme was discussed with Rosneft: supplies of oil to Belarusian refineries with further deliveries of fuel to the filling stations of Rosneft in Belarus.
