Belarus expects its relations with China to be even more efficient, as stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at yesterday’s meeting with Chinese central and regional media representatives, who are visiting Belarus as part of a large-scale press tour.

The dialogue touched upon the development of humanitarian cooperation and interaction in the international arena, the key topic being economic ties. Answering a question about the One Belt One Road initiative, the President pointed out that it was creating new growth areas on its way and, in fact, reshaping the economic map of the world.

Belarus’ participation in the One Belt One Road summit, which is scheduled to take place in the second half of May in China, will become another step in the development of strategic partnership between the two countries. The Belarusian leader is planned to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

During the meeting with the journalists the President stressed that it was very important for Belarus and China to move forward in economic issues, and, first and foremost, to attract investors to the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone more promptly. Importance is also attached to interregional cooperation, referred to by the President as the driving force in the two countries’ relationship.
