The clashes during the special operation in Ukraine have been going on for six days now. For Belarus, this is the most serious challenge in terms of security. The calm in the region is the highest value for Belarus. Our country has proved this many times in practice, acting as a guarantor of stability and providing a platform for peaceful negotiations. This is also the case today. On February 28, the first round of dialogue towards peace was held in the territory of Belarus.
The situation is evolving every minute, and it is important to clearly understand what is happening, especially when the information influence factory of the Western intelligence services is in full operation. Belarus is persistently dragged into the conflict in the information field facing all kinds of fakes. One can assess the real picture only on the basis of verified and truthful information. This was stated by the head of state at an enlarged meeting of the country's Security Council today. Belarus does everything in its power to help the conflicting parties to find a dialogue and stop the bloodshed.
Lukashenko clearly laid out the prerequisites for the events in Ukraine
The history of the issue is well known. But Alexander Lukashenko reminds us: everything that is happening today did not start suddenly. The roots of the European, and already in fact world conflict, are not even in 2014: the rapid Ukrainianization, the propaganda of Nazi ideas, the Maidan, the coup d'état, the war in Donbass. Ukraine was gradually losing the attributes of a normal state governed by the rule of law. Radicals and ultranationalists began to dominate the country. There was a total cleansing of the media field, threats, physical violence, and even deprivation of life for a different opinion. One by one, journalists, politicians and government officials were killed in the streets of Ukrainian cities. Many cases are still under investigation. Weapons and hatred for Russia was pumped into Ukraine. The U.S. has de facto taken a total control of the country. Representatives of Washington were appointed to the key positions in ministries and major organizations. The U.S. intelligence agencies have also taken over the security services. Kiev was dictated how to act: with whom to be friends and with whom to sever ties.
All this proceeded against the background of the West's total disregard for the established security system. A new arms race began with blatant militarization and increase of military budgets by sums we have never even heard of.
Ukraine became a platform for non-peaceful purposes, a base for extremists, a cache of weapons, which everybody tried to transfer to us. And Ukraine also has a dozen and a half of political structures for recruiting and supporting the fugitive opposition. If you add up 2 and 2, it is clear: they wanted to destroy the "Belarusian balcony" in front of Russia. After the failure of the blitzkrieg in August 2020, Kiev became at the forefront of anti-Belarusian rhetoric. It was the first to cry out for sanctions and shut the skies.
The West was pulling trains of arms and manpower to our western borders. 30,000 heavily armed troops were suddenly needed to save Europe from 2,000 migrants, children and women. It was clear that there was a plan. The Belarusian-Russian maneuvers showed the readiness to resolutely hold the defense, if anything.
Lukashenko: The West needed a military conflict
Alexander Lukashenko knew about the beginning of the military operation in Donbass - they were in touch with Putin. Russia was simply left with no choice, concludes the President. We were forced to respond to intelligence data as well - Ukraine deployed several anti-aircraft and missile divisions near our borders.
The President makes a very detailed account of the situation. Firstly, in response to the insinuations about the situation and the conflict, and secondly, so that people would understand: everything is being done to ensure security on the borders.
Belarus has no plans to take part in special operation in Ukraine
