Belarus intends to develop the national system of satellite communication and broadcasting and integrate into the global information space. This was stated today by the Head of State during his visit to the space center in Stankovo. The satellite ground control complex Belintersat-1 was launched on the Day of Cosmonautics. From this moment a new age of communication begins for Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko got acquainted with the work of the new complex. It is 100 percent ready to receive the signal from the orbit.

On January 15, 2016 the first Belarusian telecommunications satellite BELINTERSAT-1 was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The satellite was built by a Chinese corporation of Aerospace Science and Technology.

The national system of satellite communication and broadcasting is implemented by the Precise electro-mechanics factory together with Chinese partners.

The project is focused on export. According to experts, Belarus’ needs will cover a maximum of 10% of the satellite capacity. The rest can be sold as a service.

Customers from China are ready to use one-fifth of its resources. Negotiations are held with companies from Russia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, India and France.

High-speed satellite Internet, telephone service, specialized services for the military and emergency services, television broadcasting, telemedicine, gathering information about the environment, remote education - these are the areas in which Belintersat-1 may be useful for national ministries, agencies and companies.

The President has studied today the use of the satellite as a secure means of communication for our military.

As soon as Belarus has launched the first satellite, our country became a full member of the UN Subcommittee on research and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. In addition, the conquest of near-Earth space has given impetus to the development of specialized industries.

A center of aerospace education has been created in the BSU for training technicians with the necessary specialties.
