Belarus will continue to purposefully and calmly defend its sovereignty and will not allow the Russians and the Belarusians to be crashed together in favor of the interests of others.

This was stated by the President today during a frank and lively dialogue with diplomats who led the Foreign Ministry in different years of independence of our country.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the national diplomatic service, this is an opportunity to discuss all the topical issues that are in the top of the foreign policy agenda today fr om cooperation with key partners, the situation in the region to the course of the country. Now and again, the official Minsk has to hear reproaches for pro-Western policy, as well as for excessive inclination towards Russia. In its multi-vector foreign policy, Belarus has always defined Russia not just as the main partner, but as a fraternal state wh ere our people live. We intend to adhere to such principles in the future. The attempts of Russian mass media to extensively cover absurd cases that are not related to the Belarusian-Russian relations are surprising.

During a detailed conversation, the participants spoke about the role and place of Belarus in the world, touched on the need to launch a new Helsinki process, and also talked about the situation in the region. Belarus helps to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by all means. Alexander Lukashenko warns against destabilization.

The meeting with diplomats will become a new tradition. Moreover, this way knowledge, experience and authority will be used not only in diplomacy, but also in other areas of the civil service. This is an assignment of the President.

At the end of the meeting, the President was awarded a commemorative medal for the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic service.
