The CSTO is concerned about the attempts of NATO to get involved in the events in Ukraine. The unrest situation in the region was discussed by President Alexander Lukashenko and Secretary General of the organization. Nikolai Borduzha reported to the President about several offers in the field of military cooperation, which were supported by the head of the Belarusian state.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus: "We have a number of issues that we have to discuss. Before making decisions, we will discuss them with you. But I want you to traditionally, as usual, present your information, and experience of the situation that is emerging in the former Soviet Union and, in particular, in the framework of the CSTO. Therefore, I am pleased to have received this information from you."
Nikolai Bordyuzha, CSTO Secretary General: "Indeed, we pay high attention to monitoring the situation. According to our estimates, and it was confirmed at  the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, which was held recently in Tajikistan, the situation is very hot. It is hot in all areas. This also applies to Eastern Europe. What we are mostly concerned about is NATO's attempts to get involved in this process, in the events that are taking place in Ukraine".
Bordyuzha considers it extremely alarming that six states formed command and control points. In his opinion, it is not nothing but a creation of infrastructure for the conduct of hostilities. At the meeting they also discussed the situation in the Central Asian region.
Nikolai Bordyuzha, CSTO Secretary General: "The difficult situation is observed in the Central Asian region. Especially in Afghanistan. There appeared formations of the Islamic State. It means expansion of influence to the countries of the Central Asian region. And we have to take preventive steps that would ensure neutralization of threats that our country may face."
