The President deems it necessary to intensify work on repair and modernization of local roads. He said this yesterday during a conversation with employees of agro-industrial complex "Yubileyny" in Orsha District. Alexander Lukashenko was asked, whether the state would support the reconstruction of local roads amid the sanctions. In general, they talked about the development of agro-towns, creating comfortable living conditions in rural areas and attracting young professionals in agriculture. Sanctions do not interfere with road modernization, the President assured.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus:
The basis of asphalt is an oil product - bitumen, and for Belarus, oil is currently affordable in comparison with the world level. As for the concrete for covering the roadway, the country has also modernized the relevant production facilities, we have the necessary capacity. We don't even need to build them much, we need to maintain the ones we have. We have adopted a program to build and modernize local roads. We are not lagging behind. There are thousands of kilometers of roads. We upgrade, rebuild. And we have no reason to stop this work under any sanctions. We will be repairing, especially the local roads.
