President Alexander Lukashenko inspects course of harvesting campaign from air

The Head of State traditionally pays much attention to the agricultural sector, which forms the country's food security, contributes to the development of export potential, and as a whole is one of the foundations of the country's independence and sovereignty. The presidential inspection route covered the southern districts of Minsk and Gomel regions. The pace and organization of autumn field work were studied in these areas fr om a helicopter. In particular, the Head of State observed the sowing of winter cereals, cleaning of flax, potatoes, corn, sugar beet and other agricultural works. Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy, who is in charge of the agrarian sector in the government, spoke about the President's instructions after today's air inspection. Agrarians should complete the sowing of winter crops before October 1.

More than 20 percent of corn for grain has already been harvested with 300 thousand tons of grain threshed. The weather allowed to start works earlier. The yield is very good: 80 centners per hectare. There are farms wh ere there is more. As for the state order, it is already almost 90 percent complete. Cleaning flax is planned to be completed before September 27. This year the farmers received a good harvest of potatoes and fruit crops. 

Right now is the peak of agricultural work. Agrarians need to accelerate work to cope with the serious tasks of harvesting.
