The Belt and Road forum is currently taking place at the National Convention Center located in Beijing’s picturesque suburb. The Belarusian leader was one of the first to be invited to the event by his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Alexander Lukashenko outlined the Belarusian side’s proposals on deepening and expanding cooperation on the Eurasian continent with a focus on joint peaceful mutually beneficial development.
The forum is featuring the heads of 29 countries and delegations from 130 countries. Alexander Lukashenko, as the leader of the country that was one of the first in Europe to support China’s global initiative and provide a maximum beneficial regime for the New Silk Road, is a special guest in Beijing. Belarus also stands out as China’s strategic all-around partner.
The Belarusian President is scheduled to hold a large number of personal meetings with world leaders in Beijing.
Yesterday, Lukashenko held talks with his Pakistani colleague. According to Alexander Lukashenko and Nawaz Sharif, Minsk and Islamabad have established a cooperation roadmap and now it is time to control its real implementation. Results are already there — Belarus’ exports have doubled since the President’s official visit to Pakistan in October 2016. The second visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Belarus is planned to take place at the end of the summer.
High-level bilateral meetings will continue today. The President of Belarus is expected to meet with Chinese business giants.
