Alexander Lukashenko delivers address to Belarusian People and National Assembly

Topical issues of the development of the country and society, the vectors of foreign and domestic policy of Belarus were covered in the President’s annual address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament.

The Oval Hall of the Government House brought together senior officials, representatives of the government, government agencies, major enterprises, leading universities, banks, diplomatic corps. Traditionally, the priorities of Belarus are outlined for the near future and the emphasis is placed on the problems that require immediate solution. Thus, the Belarusian leader notes export growth, low inflation, growing opportunities for doing business in the country and building an IT-country. Comfortable business conditions should become a national brand.

The main goal is creation of a state for the people. At the same time, the economic benchmark is the GDP reaching at least one hundred billion dollars by the end of the next five-year plan. Speaking about foreign policy, the President set the task of increasing the role of Belarus in the international arena. The state can occupy its own niche in the world, becoming an independent regional player. The country promises to build cooperation with different partners, to balance its interests between the poles of power.

The Head of State also spoke for an in-depth discussion of the problems accumulated in the Eurasian Economic Union.

Part of the speech was devoted to social policy and security issues. Afterwards, the Head of State answered the questions of deputies.
