President Alexander Lukashenko delivered his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly. In his speech, he stressed that the unity of the people, as well as strong domestic and foreign policy, guarantees the security of the country.
Traditionally, the President outlined the priorities for Belarus in the near future and put emphasis on issues that require a solution right now. Thus, the Belarusian President commended the growth of exports, low inflation, growing opportunities for doing business in the country, and turning Belarus into an IT-country. The President also spoke about social policy and national security.
Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that today the foundation is laid for the future. There are all the prerequisites and conditions for fully implementing the five-year plan – both in terms of the numbers, but also in terms of its economic meaning. The main goal remains unchanged – building a country for the people. At the same time, the country’s economic benchmark is the GDP of at least 100 billion dollars by the end of the next five years. Also, comfortable conditions for doing business should become Belarus’ national brand.
After the speech, the deputies were able to ask the President their questions. Alexander Lukashenko spent over an hour answering them. The key themes were rental housing, allocation of land, the quality of roads, and education.
