Belarus is not a situational friend, but a long-time reliable partner, as stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at today’s meeting with member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, First Vice Prime Minister of China’s State Council Zhang Gaoli. According to the President, the Belarusian side is completely satisfied with the established negotiations formula - a comprehensive strategic partnership evidenced by the frequency of meetings between the authorities of both countries, which is very important for bilateral relations.

Alexander Lukashenko is also expected to meet with China’s President Xi Jinping today. Lukashenko has been personally invited by the Chinese leader to take part in celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the Anti-Japanese War and the end of World War II. In this regard, Beijing will host a large-scale parade involving soldiers and officers from China and abroad, including Belarus’ Honour Guard. The parade is expected to be attended by the heads of BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states, the UN Secretary-General and representatives of 49 countries.
