President discusses topical national security issues with Security Council’s State Secretariat leaders

President Alexander Lukashenko discussed topical national security issues yesterday with the Security Council’s State Secretariat leaders. Belarus is chairing the CSTO this year, achieving a qualitative increase in the organization’s influence and efficiency being its priorities. The upcoming exercise West 2017 will be a demonstration of consistency in ensuring the security of Belarus and its closest ally, Russia. The meeting also discussed optimizing the security and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the President drew attention to the importance of maintaining order in the streets of Belarusian cities.

Besides, the President was informed about the activities of the country’s law enforcement agencies over the first half of the year. The results are positive in all directions. Particular attention at the meeting was paid to ensuring security during the Second European Games to be hosted by Minsk in 2019. The President stressed that Belarus should hold the large-scale event with dignity.
