Famous people should make a healthy lifestyle trendy and foster a sense of pride for the homeland and its people. This opinion was expressed by the President of Belarus during a reception on the eve of Old New Year celebrated on 14 January.

The meeting in this format has already become a good tradition. Representatives of the leading media, creative intellectuals, athletes, and public officials can communicate in a friendly informal atmosphere and discuss pressing issues of today.

Addressing the participants, Alexander Lukashenko noted that in today's rapidly changing world, it is important for Belarusians not to lose their identity. After all, the present generation lives in a very difficult time, when one cannot isolate themselves from any outside influences. We must be able to resist them - and this is the guarantee of future successes.

Today, the President also presented state awards to representatives of the media, culture, and art. They are awarded for many years of fruitful work, a great personal contribution to the development of national journalism, and significant achievements in culture and art.

Among the laureates are our colleagues. The medal of Francysk Skaryna was awarded to Olga Makei, the head of the department of political observers of the ATN. Olga Makei is the author of creative reports about politics and economics, as well as programmes on pressing world topics.

The President also highly commended the efforts of Deputy Director of the TV News Agency – Sergey Khamentovsky in highlighting important events in the country and abroad. The President also noted the work of Natalia Zhdanovich, the Deputy Head of the Special Projects Department, a talented director who always has an unconventional view of the current events.

The order of Francysk Skaryna was awarded to the director of the Belarusian office of the Interstate TV and Radio Company Mir – Vladimir Pertsov. At the highest level, efforts were made to create a unified information space and improve the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in television.

And finally, the title of the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus was awarded to the singer Alexander Solodukha.
