Serving the country and the people! This is the task that the President has set today for the civil service institutions. A new law on civil service is being drafted. Last year MPs voted for new approaches. But no results were achieved. Then the President called on to take another look at all nuances of the document to avoid hasty decisions and avoid any doubts about development of the most important public institution. Being a public servant should be prestigioud, but also responsible.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: "I think that the most important thing in this respect is human resources. We need to employ not only qualified and motivated professionals able to resolve important tasks fast. We need people who are truly government officials. If we have the right staff, the system will work too. When a person enters the service, he should understand that his main duty is to serve the country and the Belarusian people."
President about civil servants: they should be proud
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: "We should clearly stipulate in the law that every civil servant should stand out in society, in everyday life. If you are a civil servant, you should be proud of it".
Those for whom public service is just an incentive to make money, are not welcome here! Nobody argues, social and legal guarantees have been and will be the norm. But they will be correlated with duties and responsibilities.aaa
Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus: "The status of a civil servant will rise high, but so will the requirements. I talked about it at the All-Belarus People's Congress. Here is the work on reregistration of NGO.More than a month has passed and I do not see any reaction from the Presidential Administration or those present. Are you waiting for a new wave? And what are we waiting for? You know that these structures are used to finance these gangsters inside the country".
The update of the law of the civil service has become a truly public affair! Not only civil servants were involved in its drafting. The law has even reached the Oval Office and received the majority of votes in the first reading.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: "We have to be absolutely sure in the right direction of the development of the civil service. I will stress my demands once again: the rights and obligations of civil servants, rules of their conduct should be akin to those of the military, and maybe even higher. But of course, no one should bend the line in any way".
The civil service will be a unified system with principles and requirements common to all. The rules of official ethics will also be prescribed.
