President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he had asked the Russian Defense Ministry and President Putin for assistance in protecting the borders of Belarus and the Union State. He announced this today at a meeting with the Council of Ministers, BelTA informs.
"They have sent strategic bombers escorted by our fighters. We must constantly monitor the situation on the border. Yes, these are the bombers that can carry nuclear weapons. But we have no other choice. We have to see what they're doing out there," the head of state said.
"The defense line runs to Gomel from Moscow along the southern border of Belarus, covers the western border, goes to Postavy in Vitebsk Region and from Postavy to Moscow through Orsha. This is the ring covering the Baltic States, Poland and Ukraine. The Russian and Belarusian servicemen should monitor it. We have agreed on this with the Russians. We do not have the right to joke. The situation there is serious. The most important thing is that they have violated the agreements. We do not know what they want," said Alexander Lukashenko.
"Russians and Belarusians, together we must control this situation," stressed the Belarusian leader.
