A. Lukashenko: political activities should not be financed from abroad

Relevant issues of political parties in Belarus were discussed today at the Palace of Independence.

Alexander Lukashenko convened a meeting with the leadership of the Parliament, the Presidential Administration, the Security Council and the Ministry of Justice. The position of the Belarusian leader remains unchanged. Alexander Lukashenko is stick to a position to support people. According to the head of state, the emergence and registration of political associations in the country is an extremely responsible and important activity. It should be done only after making sure that it will be useful for Belarus.

The decision to amend the law on political parties was made by the delegates at the VI All-Belarusian People's Assembly. This creates the legal basis for the further construction of various associations.

In total, there are 15 parties in Belarus at the moment, which adhere to different political views. According to the legislation, financing of any factions by foreign foundations is prohibited in Belarus.

Approaches to amend the laws on political parties were presented to the President today. In particular, it is planned to strengthen the regional representation of parties, establish their composition limit, funding proportions from one organization or citizen. It is expected that the law will secure the parties' obligation to nominate their candidates for the House of Representatives, as well as other innovations. The Minister of Justice told the journalists about this.

The population doesn't demonstrate much support to the parties, unless it's a political-minded group. All the opinions should be taken into account, the President noted. Amendments to the law on political parties will be finalized in the near future, as well as the mechanisms that regulate the associations existence.
