This meeting is an opportunity to evaluate the interim results of the Commission work. The President has repeatedly emphasized that the work of the Commission should be as open for people as possible. All those who care about the future and want to preserve the country are quite actively involved in this work.

The President was informed about the progress of works. The Commission has met three times. Changes have already been prepared for the sections on fundamental rights and freedoms of man and citizen, on the electoral system, as well as proposals on possible redistribution of powers between the President and the government. Tomorrow the members of the Constitutional Commission are going to discuss the issue of the functions and authorities of the Parliament.

Peter Miklashevich, Chairman of the Constitutional Commission, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus: "The most important task for the Constitutional Commission is to find the best option for redistribution of powers between the President, the government and the Parliament while preserving the presidential form of government. During this redistribution of power, according to him, on the one hand, it is important to maintain a strong presidential power and, on the other hand, increase the activity of the government and the parliament".

In general, everything is going as planned, said Petr Miklashevich

It is a large-scale analytical work including the appeals of citizens. There are thousands of them.

The Constitutional Commission includes 36 members. Among them, there are representatives of government agencies, public associations, the real sector and science, and lawyers. They accumulate all the proposals, which must be submitted to the President by August 1.
