During the last presidential election, the opponents of the authorities were getting ready not for a fair and just campaign, but for a coup d'etat. This was stated today by head of state Alexander Lukashenko during the "Big Conversation with the President," a meeting with journalists, representatives of the public, experts and the media community, BelTA informs.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the Belarusian people have earned the right to the truth and respect for their firmness and wisdom.
"Considering that August 9th is on the calendar, anticipating the interest of journalists, including the events of a year ago, let me just remind you: we carried out the preparation for the elections and the elections themselves under the conditions of the total openness and democratization of the political life. The only difference was that some people were getting ready for fair and honest elections, while the others were calling for a coup d'état," said the President.
