А. Lukashenko discusses in detail development of Belarusian vaccine against coronavirus

15 августа 2021

The Belarusian vaccine against coronavirus will appear soon. The President visited Vitebsk and had a detailed discussion with scientists and manufacturers about the development progress and where the domestic drug will be produced. The trip to the northern region is not accidental. The only veterinary bio-industry enterprise in the country operates here. BelVitunifarm supplies all agricultural organizations of the country with important medicines, including vaccines for animals. Experience, technology, specialists - they have everything they need to create a base for producing their own Belarusian vaccines for humans, and not only from COVID-19. Let's note right away that there's no catch here: the technologies of vaccine production for humans and animals are similar. Moreover, it's the world practice to produce both at the same site. And the powerful national school of virologists - it is almost a hundred years old - will allow us to promptly solve the problem. We agreed to put our vaccine into production in the first half of 2023. You can't argue that this is an important step for the country! And not just in the development of biotechnology. Our own production means independence from external supplies. At first in the fight against coronavirus and in the future against other infections as well. Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus: "In this difficult time we have found 10 million rubles (this is only for the first stage) of innovative money and budgetary funds in favor of the Ministry of Health and the Academy of Sciences at the expense of other areas. The main thing that remains is the result and within the stated time frame!"

The virus, unfortunately, will not go anywhere in the next few years. This thesis is already indisputable. It is debatable whether collective immunity will help. There are already more than 7 billion people on the planet. At the same time, Western manufacturers have said they are raising the price. Hence the conclusion - there will be a demand for this product, and a very significant one. If we don't oversleep and turn around, we will quickly get production with export potential of hundreds of millions of dollars. The President also discussed the domestic vaccine during a working visit to Rogachevsky District. In Tikhinichi agro-town the Belarusian leader got acquainted with the work of the local agricultural enterprise and the harvesting process. The President was also shown the new Belarusian combine harvester. It is as good as its German and American analogues.Tikhinichi agro-town is also a part of the "Village of the Future" project. The goal is to create conditions for life in the village not worse than in the city. In Gomel Region 23 settlements were included in the project (there are 170 settlements in the country). They are actively developing production and social sphere. For example, over the past two years, roads in Tikhinichi have been upgraded, the territory has been landscaped, sports facilities have been repaired and built and much more. Work on the development of Tikhinichi and transformation of the agro-town into the "Village of the Future" will continue for four more years. This is one of the topics of communication between Alexander Lukashenko and the local residents.
