The focus of attention today is the cooperation of Belarus with the African continent. The President of Zimbabwe is welcomed in the Palace of Independence. This is the first official visit at the highest level in the history of our relations. Belarus is open to dialogue with Zimbabwe and is ready for a substantive conversation on a wide range of topics, for increasing mutual trade, and gradually reaching a strategic level of cooperation. This was stated by the President of Belarus at an extended meeting with the President of Zimbabwe. The year 2018 brought serious contracts for nearly $ 60 million. We will supply machinery and equipment. In the next two years, the parties intend to at least triple the amount of the agreements in investment, trade and services. Zimbabwe is an important partner for Belarus in the South African region. However, significant potential has not yet been realized.
The parties are confident that the current visit will give impetus to the development of bilateral relations. Following the talks, a package of international documents was signed today. The President of Zimbabwe will also meet with representatives of Belarusian business.
