By Alexei Adashkin: Today was a memorable day for many Belarusians. Today, the President of Belarus presented state awards and prizes. The ceremony took place at the Palace of Independence. 37 people were given honorary awards. These are people who worked hard and achieved notable results – representatives of the agro-industrial complex, industry and science, doctors and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

To ensure fairness, the President met with all the candidates for awards twice. This careful selection helped to maintain objectivity. After all, for many candidates these awards are a real assessment of the cause of their entire life. State awards and prizes are awarded once every two years.

Belteleradiocompany’s TV Infoservice (ATN) has aired a series of documentaries about each of the candidates so that the whole country could learn about the people who promote the national science and art.

Among the people who received award was Valery Zaitsev who devoted his entire life to microelectronics. A group of scientists and manufacturers was awarded the State Prize for the creation of a new class of microelectronics products.

The equipment made by Planar Corporation is used at the "Integral" plant. The annual production output is estimated to be billions of pieces. Today, the holding is the largest manufacturer of microcircuits and semiconductor devices in Central and Eastern Europe.

The work of Belarusian doctors can be assessed not in terms of money, but in terms of the number of lives saved. In the early 2000s, Belarusian organ transplant surgeons made 8 transplants per year. Today, the average number is 500.

Six doctors who created the modern Belarusian school of transplantology received the State Prizes. Advanced medical technologies have seriously strengthened the reputation of our healthcare, as well as the image of the country.

In art, seven people received awards. Among them, the creative staff of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus – for staging the opera "The Grey Legend". One more prize was awarded to composer Vladimir Kondrusevich. He composed music for more than 200 theater productions both in Belarus and abroad. The composer also wrote music for the first national musical dedicated to the life of Sophia of Halshany.

Today Alexander Lukashenko also noted the success of Belarusian athletes. Vladimir Samsonov and Victoria Azarenko, the instructors of the national teams, were awarded the Order of Honour.

In addition to presenting state prizes and awards, the awardees were given a guided tour of the Palace of Independence. Works by the famous Belarusian painter Semen Domorad are also exhibited at the Palace.

Following such recognition at the highest level, these people will certainly try harder to continue their business of life. Thanks to their work and perseverance people know about Belarus far beyond its borders. Changing and creating something new, each of them helps develop their country.
