The end of April in Belarus is marked by a date that remains a special mark in its history. The anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is every time an occasion to assess what has already been done on the affected regions in the south of the country and to think about their prospects. These days, the President traditionally visits the affected regions. This time, the focus of the discussion was on matters outside the nuclear sphere.

The President visited the town of Zhitkovichi, Gomel Region. Alexander Lukashenko paid a visit to the Turovsky Dairy Plant. The construction of the plant here became part of the state programme for the development of the Pripyat Polesie. Now, Italian delicacies are produced here – cheeses for every taste, including ricotta, mascarpone, and mozzarella.

According to the President, the development of industries, new jobs, upgrading of infrastructure are the components that should help to feel the taste of a new life in the Polesie. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the Belarusians are able to make their country very successful.

At the Zhitkovichi Executive Committee, the President held a meeting with the district authorities and heads of enterprises of the region.

During the conversation, Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the matters of competent selection of personnel and the problem of drinking. The President's rhetoric was tough: to make your country prosperous, you must make efforts and maintain a serious discipline. It is quite understandable, and there are plenty of examples, when the lack of order undermines the stability of society. The recipe for the quality of life is simple, that's why the framework must be rigid.

After the meeting, the President strolled along the central part of Zhitkovichi and communicated with the locals warmly. Alexander Lukashenko heard some positive feedback about the construction and renovation works in the territory around the secondary school. Also, Alexander Lukashenko visited the district technical service facility where he spoke with the personnela bout the progress of their work.
