Trilateral meeting of Contact Group in Minsk

29 января 2020
Ceasefire and mine action remain the key conditions for prevention of civilian casualties and peaceful solution to the conflict in Donbass. The trilateral meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk today has been focused mainly on the practical implementation of the results of Normandy Summit in Paris.

Heidi Grau, the OSCE Special Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group: "In assessing the overall security situation in the conflict zone, I want to note that the number of ceasefire violations in January, remains below the average of the last year. However, the number of civilian casualties, according to the OSCE, has increased. In addition to the attacks, their main cause of civilian deaths is mines. I encourage the parties to take all necessary measures to comply with the ceasefire and to strengthen mine action."

Next time the Trilateral Contact Group will meet on February 12.
