Nomination of candidates for local councils will begin on December 10. This was stated by chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lydia Yermoshina at a meeting of the Central Election Commission.
This stage will continue till January 8. Registration will be held from 9 to 18 January. Lydia Yermoshina gave recommendations to those wishing to be nominated to the local Councils of Deputies.
A citizen of Belarus who has reached the age of 18 may be a deputy of the local Council if he does not have a criminal record and resides in the territory of the relevant administrative unit or is connected with it by professional activities. Also citizens of Russia permanently residing on the territory of Belarus can nominate themselves.
Foreign observers are not invited to monitor the elections, exceptions can be made for representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps.
