CIS expects Ukraine to resume its full-fledged participation

The CIS hopes that Ukraine will eventually resume its full participation in the Commonwealth, Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters ahead of a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiaries of the CIS. During the meeting, agendas for regular meetings of the Council of Heads of State and Foreign Ministers were elaborated. The meetings are expected to be held on the 10—11 October.

Sergei Lebedev, the Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS: "Unfortunately, Ukraine's participation has dropped dramatically. We hope that Ukraine will eventually resume its participation, because it meets the interests of the entire Commonwealth, and of Ukraine itself."

During the meeting, the topics of security, economy, and ecology were raised. Sergei Lebedev noted that all so-called "green" issues that the CIS is facing can be solved only by joint efforts.
