Normandy Four talks finish in Minsk

12 февраля 2015

The negotiations between the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany in the Palace of Independence, which lasted for more than 15 hours, finished a few minutes ago. The meeting’s format changed several times. First, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany held narrow format negotiations to be later joined by members of the delegations. The debate was apparently so intense that the politicians had to get back to the negotiating table.

Following its results, the contact group signed a Normandy Four document. The parties also agreed on ceasefire. As noted by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the main task for today is to implement the documents signed in Minsk by the Normandy Four and the contact group on Ukraine. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the parties agreed on a set of long-term political settlement measures (Live report by Sergei Gusachenko).

The Minsk talks will obviously go down in history. Vladimir Putin, Pyotr Poroshenko, Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as Normandy Four delegation members met to seek a way out of the protracted Ukrainian crisis. For more details, follow our newscasts aired every hour.
