Central European Initiative Summit to be held in Minsk today

The summit of the Central European Initiative will be held in Minsk today. The main theme of the event is the role of the CEI countries in promoting compatibility and complementarity of integration processes within Greater Europe, as well as strengthening economic cooperation of integration structures and uniting efforts in combating new threats to stability in the region and in the world.

During Belarus’ presidency in the CEI, a number of events have already taken place in Minsk. Among them was a ministerial conference on science, a meeting of the foreign ministers and negotiations of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the CEI countries.

In late November, the Belarusian capital hosted another important CEI event – a meeting of its Parliamentary Assembly, which brought together 40 delegates from 13 countries. The key topic was digital technology in terms of ensuring geopolitical security.

Belarus joined the Central European Initiative in June 1996, and this year it holds the presidency in the organization for the first time, and this has become a truly historical event. During today's meeting, Croatia will take over the presidency of the CEI
