This autumn, the CSTO member states' Security Councils will present to the heads of states plans on changing the principles of military-technical cooperation of the alliance. According to the experts, the measures are aimed at improving the work of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. It was reported today by Stanislav Zas, the State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council.
At the moment, the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils is still in session. The delegates have already discussed more than 10 critical issues, including the prospects for improving the management system of the Special Forces assigned to the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force. In addition, a joint training plan for the governing bodies and formations for 2018 was discussed, as well as a plan for consultations on foreign policy, security and defense issues for the nearest future.
Yuri Khachaturov, the CSTO Secretary General:
"The Secretaries of the Security Councils and Defense Ministers have agreed on a plan for joint activities. In 2018, we will conduct 5 exercises, a number of trainings, as well as a number of conferences, round tables and other events."
Stanislav Zas, the State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council:
"We have discussed the state of affairs in the CSTO and the organization's prospects for development, including information security. This is an urgent issue and we are facing real threats in this regard, and today the speeches of the Secretaries of the Security Councils reflected it."
Also today, the delegates of the meeting of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils laid wreaths at the Victory Monument in Minsk. Thus, delegates stressed the importance of common historical memory and mutual interests in ensuring the security of the CSTO member states.
