23 мая 2018

The international forum Minsk Dialogue has officially opened in Minsk.

Its leitmotif is the initiative of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to launch the Helsinki-2 process. Hundreds of leading experts and well-known politicians from 40 countries have arrived in Minsk for a large-scale dialogue.

The topics on the agenda reflect modern geopolitical realities: the conflict in the East of Ukraine, the problems of Transdniester, the war in Syria, the confrontation between Palestine and Israel, Russia and the West. It is almost impossible to stay away from these processes today. And more than ever it is important to propose ways to resolve contradictions.

By the way, Belarus hosts this event for the 11th time. However, such a representative composition of participants gathered here for the first time. Among the participants are Secretary General of the OSCE Thomas Greminger, former CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha and NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs James Appathurai.

The forum gathered about 400 leading experts and politicians from 40 countries. Such interest is justified, because Minsk has proved itself well as a platform for negotiations. Minsk has experience, the position of Minsk is neutral, and most importantly, Minsk is interested in preventing the development of conflicts in Europe. Belteleradiocompany acts as an information partner of the forum.

The topics that were voiced today during the plenary sessions are diverse and topical. These are the challenges of the present time in the European region, the development of the Eastern Partnership initiative, the Eurasian Economic Union and the One Belt One Road project.
