Briefing dedicated to 32nd anniversary of Chernobyl tragedy held in Belarusian Foreign Ministry

Mitigating the aftermath of Chernobyl disaster requires not only national but also international efforts. A briefing dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy was held today in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The event was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations. Our country consistently draws attention to the Chernobyl problem. As a result of the Chernobyl catastrophe, Belarus lost 485 villages and towns, and therefore feels responsible for maintaining attention to the history of the tragedy itself and its invaluable experience in overcoming the consequences of the accident.

Andrei Dapkunas, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus: "We are grateful to the international institutions for the help that is being rendered and will be rendered to the affected areas, first of all in the field of investment and innovations. Secondly, there is an exceptionally unique experience accumulated by the country in overcoming, studying the consequences of Chernobyl tragedy. We believe that we are obliged to share this with the world, the world is sincerely interested in this."
