22 сентября 2021

The high-level week of the UN General Assembly has opened in New York.  In his opening remarks, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the world is facing unprecedented threats and divisions. He called on states to restore mutual trust to confront the main challenges: pandemic, climate crisis and geopolitical instability.  Joe Biden also took the floor.  In his speech, Biden vowed the end of the "era of wars" and the beginning of the "era of relentless diplomacy". This session will be attended by about 110 heads of state, more than 50 heads of government and more than 20 foreign ministers. Our country will be represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs.  Vladimir Makei will take part in the general political discussion of the UN General Assembly and the summit on food systems and will take part in the meeting on counteraction against unilateral measures. A number of bilateral talks are also planned.
