Vladimir Makei: Belarus wants no escalation of tension due to introduction of martial law in Ukraine

Ukraine has imposed martial law in 10 regions of the country for a period of 30 days. Our neighbor has made a call for NATO countries to send warships to the Sea of ​​Azov to ensure the security of the region. The President of Russia, in turn, called the incident a serious provocation on the eve of the presidential elections in Ukraine, they are scheduled for March 31, 2019.

Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country Vladimir Makei said that Belarus would like to see no steps taken that would lead to a further increase in tension in our region, because it can have an impact not only on regional, but also on international security as a whole. At the same time, Vladimir Makei notes, that Belarus is ready to make its contribution to resolving the situation and defusing the tension that is unfortunately present today.
