"The unhealthy activity that some foreign countries have been displaying towards Belarus lately is nothing more than interference in internal affairs." This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country today.

Vladimir Makei commented on the foreign political situation around our state. He touched upon the biased opinion of his western neighbors and the discussion of an urgent resolution on Belarus in the UN Human Rights Council.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "The resolution is absolutely groundless. And I must say that a very dangerous precedent is being created for the United Nations. Article 2 of the UN Charter clearly states that the organization should not interfere in the internal competence of this or another state. This resolution is an unequivocal interference in the internal affairs of Belarus."

"We are surprised by the destructive political statements of our neighbors, and other members of the European Union addressed to Belarus. They undermine this sovereignty and independence of our country, instead of supporting them.

I hope that common sense will prevail, all parties will be prudent and objectively assess the situation."

Ministry of Internal Affairs' position on criticism from the Lithuanian government

"We have not seen constructive approaches from our neighbors, primarily from Lithuania and Poland in recent years. I am especially surprised by some of the statements.

There are parliamentary elections there. So, everyone tries to damage Belarus."

The head of the foreign policy department noted that the Belarusian authorities are definitely ready to give an adequate response to any kind of destructive actions from outside. If sanctions are applied to Belarus, the government will take reciprocal steps related to the internal political functioning of states.
