Talks between Belarusian and Azerbaijani presidents to take place in Baku

14 апреля 2021
The talks between the presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan will be held in Baku today. Belarus' Forge Number 1 landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport yesterday.

Alexander Lukashenko was welcomed at the airport by the Azerbaijani governmental delegation and Belarusian officials who arrived in Baku the day before. After a short ceremony, the Head of State went to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The first meeting between the two leaders was held in an informal atmosphere. Practice shows that sometimes such negotiations help to solve more issues than official meetings. The main aspects of work and strategic issues of bilateral cooperation were on the agenda. As a result, the informal meeting lasted for 5 hours and ended only by midnight.

Today, the main negotiations with Ilham Aliyev will be held. The meeting of the presidents will be held in a narrow and extended format with participation of the delegations members. Their attention is devoted to the expansion of trade and economic interaction and filling the cooperation with new content. The agenda includes issues of industrial cooperation, projects in the field of food production and supply, and the processing of agricultural products. The other equally pressing issues are cooperation in healthcare, science and technology, education and tourism. The heads of states will also exchange views on the urgent international issues, since the range of such topics is wider than ever. The bilateral documents are expected to be signed following the talks.
